This belief has been debated by numerous scholars throughout the dynasties, including one poem: "From the Qi to the Tang dynasties, this mountain was barren and desolate, the spiritual realm desolate and rarely visited. The spiritual realm is beyond description, and even the work of ghosts is hard to find."
