Shugo Gento, who has just retired, finds himself in urgent need of a large sum of money due to family circumstances. To earn it, he joins Melloworld, a virtual game that promises real-world profits. Inside the game, Shugo teams up with Ayana Himekawa, a popular streamer, and Hikaru Morioka, a wealthy player. The trio progresses smoothly at first, but gradually they begin to feel something is off about the game.
